It just doesn't seem to be feasible to have that many mini matches. All the preparation, and with all those mini events going on, either nobody will pay attention to those outside the top 10 or top guys will be playing once every couple months. Matches are interesting, but they shouldn't be a substitute for tournaments and should be an occasional supplement imo. If they happened too often, hardly anyone would really care.

He’s on the right track with the mma/boxing idea. I propose the winner of each game gets to punch the loser in the face instead.
He believes Chess should be more like MMA and Boxing... GMs should be challenging other GMs in match play... like Boxing and MMA...
Now we GMs playing the ratings game. They covet rating points because that translates to sponsors and invitation fees.
Match play is different than tournament play... some world champions were not ranked no#1... yet their rivals could not defeat them in match play...
I'd like to see FIDE start promoting micro matches... 3 classical games starting on a Friday... with a Rapid, Blitz tie breaker mode on Sunday, after the Classical game.
