Has anybody ever regretted upgrading?

To premium?

You could come to regret unlimited access to the Tactics Trainer.  Resetting your history may be the only cure...Or so I've heard.

I doubt it...it's really a matter of finances. If you have $100.00 to spend on chess, this is a great way to spend it. I'd really suggest the diamond membership, though, as the extra features are well worth it. If not diamond, you should at least get the second-best.

I decided to save my money this year, but I might renew soon. (I'll probably renew if chess.com generates a good "Advanced Study Plan.")

Ziryab

I regretted premium membership when chess.com was unable to find sufficient evidence against a second rate player who played a near perfect game against me. But, a rare cheater is not enough to deter me from the advantages of full membership.

They need more LESS advanced Chess Mentor courses.

I was being mostly facetious in my first post.  One annoying addiction compared to the convenience of an online digital chess academy?  If you have time to take advantage (and will to do so) then an upgrade is so worth it.

Conflagration_Planet

I still think Chess Mentor panders to higher rated players.

I wouldn't say I regret it per se, but I don't think that I get my monies worth.  I do 99% of my studying from books/magazines or analyzing live with friends.

Most (80% or so) of the videos I watch are on ICC as I feel they are better in quality for the most part, BUT...

If you have the $ to spend, it's not a bad way to spend it.  And if you don't have an ICC account to watch chess.fm videos then for sure get the premium and watch the videos here.  Some are pretty darn good.

I was thinking about buying a premium membership on chess.com and let me ask you this:  what is the total benefit one would get spending four hours studying from books versus the total benefit one would get spending four hours on the chess.com forums?

Good question.

How about Chess Mentor?

bobbyDK

Nope but I feel a little cheated cause it said upgrade to see your games analyzed by a gm in a video....it wasn't my games analyzed.

ChrisWainscott

I do like some of the Chess Mentor lessons.  That's probably what I get the most out of.

Conflagration_Planet

I'm thinking about upgrading.

This is a first... I guess if you do not make good use of the facilities and tools made available to you by chess.com, one should question oneself as to what was the original purpose of purchasing a premium "ticket".

I think the title

Chess.com/TV "Your Games Analyzed"
is misleading it isn't my games. it says upgrade now to see ....your games analyzed.
but I still think chess.com has a lot to offer.

I hear you can have it done via computer.

TheGreatOogieBoogie

I might upgrade someday, but my next chess priorities are another Smirnov course (positional understanding one), Chessbase 12 starter package, and maybe either the Amateur's Mind or The Improving Chess Thinker.

That link has a (gasp) Trompowsky attack game!  Now, revenant (i.e., zombies with free will basically) ninjas who tear off their mask to breathe magical fire on people aren't exactly known for being gentlemen, but not even I would play that!

Interesting!

no I can get a computer to analyze my games not a human. A human can tell me stuff a computer cannot. I learn a lot from members games analyze by GM Roman but I learn limited from grandmaster or fritz analyzing a game.
