There was a recent change in TT where it will pull a larger range of tactics.

i noticed the puzzles were easier a couple of sessions ago; and i read the attached article which seemed to reflect what has been going on
however, now i cant seem to get a puzzle correct
i play on the app so there is no way of knowing what the "rating" of any particular puzzle is but i'm sure i'm missing the "easy" ones yet have no idea which are easy or hard atm?
i'm completely baffled and i've lost 300 points today (not that it matters) but at least i could tell if puzzles were becoming more difficult; now there seems no rhyme or reason
i'm curious what other players are experiencing
I could be wrong but the tactic slection on the apps hasn't changed. That change is currently only for the website.

Yes, this has been incredibly strange. I've always had consistent problems, usually within +/- 100 points of my current rating on TT. I'm currently rated just over 1900 on TT, but I'm being given problems as low as around 1270 and maxing at just over 2100 now. If I do not get an answer right for a puzzle rated approximately 200 points higher than me, why am I losing so many points?! I've always viewed the TT to be overly punishing, but to lose more than 10+ points at a time on puzzles way above your rating does not seem right (or fair) at all. This is perplexing!
The bounds on problem rating are complete garbage now. The variance is far too high! The TT is completely unstable ---- and to their point of a "This is much more realistic to what you will find in your actual chess games" ... it's NOT REALISTIC to see +200/-600 points every other move. The variance is causing me to over analyze on "easy problems" because I just finished with one rated at 2100. This is insane.
Chesstempo has tactics that are nearly impossible. Why can't chess.com make their tactics harder as well?
Then the ratings might actually be somewhat accurate.
I personally like the larger range. It exposes me to more patterns but I also don't care as long as the tactics are decent.
Try not to pay too much attention to the time and as long as I'm missing some and getting some right, it satisfies my training needs.
What true rating? The rating is relative to the pool of the tactics' ratings.
All that matters is that you get tactics that challenge you in some way. I certainly get that. Miss some lower rated problems in the process.
Yeah, my rating is going up, and they will likely need to tweak the formula somewhat to keep them from getting crazy. But again, as long as the selection provides a mix of tactics you miss (or have to spend significant time on), then it is working.
It seems that after I recently broke past 2400 in Tactics, most of the time since it has suddenly started giving me puzzles rated in or around the 1900s again. Is there any explanation for this, and is there any way it can be changed so that I'm being given puzzles that continually increase in difficulty?
Is this maybe something to write to the staff about?
Thanks!
