How many games had you played when you were rated 100 points higher? It might have just been an innaccurate rating from not playing enough games yet.
Has the overall chess level in chess.com increased in the last years?
Nope, that's not the case, I played hundreds of games two years ago (3 months playing almost every day)... Then I quitted for a whole year and a half and returned a few months ago, losing about 300 points during the first days and only recovering 200 after months of playing and getting back to the trickery and bad habits you need to succeed in blitz chess online. So I'm wondering if is it just me or the overall level has increased slightly.
I started playing in chess.com two years ago, and my mean ELO was at that time 100 points higher than today.
My first guess is that now I play a bit worse than before (maybe I'm getting older and my competitive instinct is fading away), but a second hypothesis could be that today the overall level is a bit higher than two years ago, and that makes sense, because, as internet develops and increases leisure and entertainment options (video games, etc.), people that keep playing chess online in 2013 is expected to be more hardcore players than those playing a few years ago...
What do you think? Has the overall level in chess.com increased?
