Yes. It was a live game early in my membership here. His king was in the center of the board, and he was attacking my knight with one of his pieces. I had little time, so I just moved the knight out of the way. All of a sudden the message popped up that the game had ended in checkmate. I was shocked because I didnt' see how he could have mated me that quickly.
He hadn't. I had mated him.
Yeah, I planned it that way.
I thought it was cool at first until I realized that's actually a flaw in my skills. It can be as easy to walk into a mate as it is to mate.
It still happens from time to time, but instead of chuckling, I analyze why I missed it.
Just another one of life's joys that chess squashes lol.
