Have you seen anything more disastrous?

I'm baffled. UndecidedTongue OutLaughing

Maybe your opponent was drunk.

HulkBuster62

That was my first thought. It doesn't look like 1400 rated play.

Irontiger

After move 32 White starts having some play... Insufficient one, sure, but enough to keep playing if you do not calculate ten moves ahead.

And overlooking a diagonal backwards defense (move 38) is one of the most current mistake according to Bent Larsen in My fifty best chess games (where Fisher misses it at the sixth move of a subvariation).

So yes, I have seen way more disastrous, even at my rating (~1750).

jimboss23

was this bullet???

HulkBuster62

Wow, Irontiger. That's interesting. I'll have to look that book up. Thanks.

Quite possible. Very much possible. Point noted.

This was a 3|0 (3-minute) Blitz game. But I guess he had enough time to think and play.

Okay.. Fischer mugged up his openings, it seems.

~1750 disasters. This is nuts

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that 1- In some mental calculation well after the opening, Fisher went wrong because he missed the 6th move, thus it does not seem too desastrous to me, thus 2- sometimes people, rated ~1750, have played against me worse games that the one in first post.

1. Oh okay, right.

2. I understood that one.

Blacks play wasn't all that good either

EternalChess

34. Qxa8 check and I swear white could win or could draw somehow.

Sherlock__Holmes

You could by 33...Rc2+ finish the game ...  34.Kxb3 Qd3+ ....

Yeah, I saw that. But I thought I'd rather go for mate instead.

Anyways, there was no mate at all. Undecided

Agreed. You could think of 3|0.

ohsnapzbrah

Is this a troll attempt? Because black plays just as bad as white did. Black only got lucky his opponent didn't mate him.

27...fxe3?!?!?!?! You let him get counterplay. 27...Ra7 is much better.

33....Qd3?!?!? Should be 33...Rc2+!!. if 34. Qxc2, 34...Qxc2#. If 34. Kxb3, 34...Ra3+ 35. Kxb4 Qa5#. And then he almost mates you. IE instead of 38. Qe6+, there is a line in which 38. Rxc7+ wins for white.

Sherlock__Holmes

Yes 3\0 is too short - so i think,a good game for you, and his way of playing is not so strange - if he was thinking for time only.
