1. Italian opening as white and Guccio Piano game as black:
These two openings carried me to my current elo. They are very simple but very affective, as long as you don’t missplay them.
2. Do puzzles. It’s not a myth, puzzles do actually sharpen your mind. Highly recommend trying to set a goal of doing the daily puzzle 50 days in a row (I am at 292 lol but I think 50 is a good place to start)
3. Don’t get tilted. If you lose two in a row, take a short break. I am guilty of this one. I lose 2-3 games and then I end up getting tilted and as a result I lose hundreds of elo (not even kidding I lost 50 elo today bc I wouldn’t stop playing even though I knew I wasn’t enjoying the game)
These would be my main tips!
So I'm currently at 820 elo, and I'm 17 years old. I admit that I have been a little inconsistent with chess in the past, but recently i've started taking it more seriously. My goal is to reach 1000 elo soon, and I feel like it's achievable if I focus on the right things. I'd really appreciate some advice on how I could, what all things I should focus on to improve, what kind of openings I should use, and any habits or training methods which may have helped you climb from this range. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
