Help with chess

Currently, my tactics trainer rating is over 2000. However, all of my gameplay ratings remain in the 1480s. I feel that I have a good grip on tactics, but what else should I learn? Striving for tactical positions is probably a good idea, but what openings will do that? Please help...

Tactically I think you are honed...Are you setting up Online Games with the opening line you use as white?

You can customize the opening for the games you seek.  Doing this will probabbly help you across the board.  Setup 10-20 online games with the ONE opening you use.  Then compare the lines as you play them.  You will hone your "white" blade that way.

There are plenty of books out there with long drawn-out analyses of openings, but I find that their usefulness is limited. Once your opponent plays a "non-book move" you'll feel lost and confused. While it is good to follow traditional lines of openings, it's not going to help you much once the play gets complicated. What I am thinking of doing is taking the tournament games that I lost, and putting them through chess engines (or the computer analysis on this site) and seeing where I made mistakes. Learning from mistakes is the best method of improving your chess.

recently, I have only played blitz, etc. I jes join whatever live tournament is next, and that is rarely 10 0 or 15 10.
