The main feature I use in Fritz is Infinite Analysis. In Fritz 9, that's found in Engine > Infinite Analysis.
A good way to study master games is to cover up the moves, take the side of the winner, and try to guess the winner's move at each turn.

As a constant every day Fritz 12 player, go to Training and use "Friend Mode". The game will play according to your strengths and weaknesses. It gives you a + handicap if you play poorly but once it goes into the negatives, it plays stronger. Also, click on the little blue Question mark in the corner. That's the Help section and contains everything you need to do about the game, menus, databases, book openings and more. I was on Chessmaster for years until I got F-12 in August. I'm in the negative handicaps now and this game has gotten to be a real challenge.

CM is best for beginners.. But I simply dont like the CM's GUI(Chess board options). Fritz allows you to customize the colors from a jpeg file too.
The first link has many tutorials and lessons on how to use Fritz:
http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=6105
And here's some info on how to use search engines to find handy links like the one above http://www.cln.org/searching_faqs.html
I am quite a new player and have bought Fritz 12 to try and understand the game better. However, I dont really inderstand how to use it. The Instruction manual is very short and doesnt go into detail.
Can anyone advise me on how to use the program to help me improve as a player. Also, when people say to study the games included in the database, do they mean just to watch them through? how do you study them, and what do you look out for?
Thanks.
Sorry if in wrong section.
