Help with positional games

I have noticed that I often loose tight games in very positional midgames. This wouldn't be a bummer, but I absolutely LOVE to play openings such as the Najdorf sicilian, the open sicilian, the franco sicilian, the french defense, and the caro kann, among others. I am looking for advice on how to improve my positional chess thought, such as good practice, good puzzles, and good reads on the topic of positional chess. Any advice is valid, so please help.

Thank You for viewing this, and thank you in advance for advice,

Sincerely,

Phillovesdaddy

Hey there,

There are a lot of great ways to improve your positional strength, but one of the best (in my opinion) is to study positional masterpieces from the greats. Games from Capa, Nimzo, Karpov, or Petrosian - to name a few - can inspire your own play and give you some ideas of items to look for in your own games.

Hope that helps.

Thank You,

I really like Karpov, so I might really want to study his midgames.

Get a copy of Simple Chess. Few books on positional chess can give you the elements that you need as quickly.

I agree with Megas. It helped me break 2000 too but it may be a small bit advanced for your full development. i think watching lots of streamers can be a good idea. I found one of Astaneh's series very good which deals with lots of positional play aspects. Cant remember the name right off though. gingergms Master method 1 may also be a good choice

Thanks I will look at all of these and try to see what I can find. I have an ever-growing supply of chess books and might be able to send scanned copies of certain hard to find books. Also, if anyone knows a good book on playing against unorthodox players, that would be great. My best book on the subject currently is titled the big book of busts, but it stops helping when you reach around 1700.
