Sorry, Nano but according to your reasoning - I can see how an intermediate student would piece together the puzzle of what is a foreign language- what you mean to say is that he said "well, go sh1t." and that is not the translation.
For example, in English, if I tell a friend that I'm going to hang out at the mall. I don't really plan to hang from anything. If I say what's up? Do you look to the sky? No you don't, thus don't literally translate another languate, then put your own interpretation (based on limited info) when it doesn't make any sense.

If you write a business letter to a foreign recipient you write in your own language and receive a reply in theirs. The translation task falls to the recipient not the sender.
If the others (unlike Robert) are insufficiently interested to seek a translation that is their business.

It's not the same case for me. If I play, say, a French, I generally avoid comments since I don't speak his language (except the usual greetings all of us know, like bonjour). Barbaric as it is, English rules the world :)
