There are some people who are here for laughs, and some that take things waaay too seriously.
And then there are some who actually talk about chess.

Not trying to add to any conflict here, I do not like conflict, but to me all that is being said here is just a smarter version of "yo mama" and "I know you are but what am I?" I guess the nature of man does not really change when intelligence is raised, it just express it in a different way, huh?
Question, is this common for this forum? I have been checking it out a bit, and it is not rare that I find some type of unnecesary conflict, name calling, ego-boosters, stuff like that. This is not to say that would prevent me from coming here, as I am sure I can work around that, and I am also sure you will never find me in the middle of any quarrels (P.S. I do not know this word because I am smart or intelligent or anything like that, I know it because it is a biblical word and I am well verse in Scripture).
I do hope I get to know some of you pretty well, and even get to play against some of you. I am playing against one of you guys now, and I can already tell I am going to be obliterated by him, but at least it will be a new experience and practice, right?
I have another question. I have learned a bit in my... chess study you can say, but is there anything important that I should be aware of as well? Maybe some obvious I might have missed, or something that all players should know that is not so obvious, is there anything like that?
Well yeah, of course there's stupid discussion; pretty much everyone here except TheGrobe is an idiot.
As for chess stuff; the only thing like that I can think of off the top of my head is en passant, because a lot of beginners for whatever reason don't know that rule.
(P.S. I do not know this word because I am smart or intelligent or anything like that, I know it because it is a biblical word and I am well verse in Scripture).
This is funny; "Don't get the false impression that I'm smart; I read the Bible."
The whole thing? Any good? I read a little of it when I was bored in a hotel.
oinquarki, there are many brilliant and insightful people in these forums. It can be hard to separate the people who give great advice from the trolls. Alxnder, here is a list of people that you should always listen to as they are really helpful and great people:

Naming and shaming?!
That's why I follow Him :-)
Okay, thank you quark, I know en passant pretty well, so that won't be a problem with me.
Wow; and to think I contemplated suicide after being assigned half a history book.

Ok good; at one point a staff member said he got about seven messages a week from members freaking out that their pawn got taken funny, and I'm not even sure he's in customer support.
I read it and I don't regret it.
I've read tons of classical history and lots of mythology. I think I'm creeping up on about 2500 books read, now. Kind of stalled out on the book I'm reading now.
Did you read the part where John the Baptist was reincarnated from the prophet Elijah? Didn't see that coming.

Why do you read the bible... its just one long sequence of quarrels as well.
"yo mama"
"I know you are but what am I?"
"do as i say or burn in hell"
That's not even facepalm, that's just sad.
It's sad that so many people write at a third grade level on here too. I SUCK like crap at spelling, but even I know better than to write noone. I just give some information, and get attacked by you, and your buddies too.

This from the chick who has possibly the longest history of inane forum threads here.
Noone likes a grammar nazi.
