i will. i just dropped a piece in a game, didn't realize a pawn link would trap my bishop.
hi!
What's a philidor and lucena position in the end game and how would I go about learning to play them?

You just started playing chess and you produced the game in post #46???
*Why do I always fall for these threads?*

thanks, the article makes it sound really complicated. i guess that endgame book will probably help a lot with that then.
i have another question related to endgame. i read that the below position is a win for white because of the connected passed pawn and in that position white pushes it to "force the black king to concede the center and eventually the game." i've tried to play the position out but i can't find the way to win for white.what am i missing here?
My mistake, I read it wrong. It says white's threat to push it will force black to concede the center and eventually the game. I kept trying to advance the pawn immediately and win but reading it correctly, I guess white could move his king around and force black to give up the center by having to mind the white pawn. I will work on it later today again, sorry again for not reading it correctly!
Grillson, play a lot of games - at least 5 or 6 every week. Accept the fact that you will lose a lot. Every time you lose, if you don't know why you lost, you need to look back and figure that out.
