higher rated players aborting game before it even begins...

OK I get it, you're too good, don't wanna waste your time... blah blah blah in other words too full of your self but why not just filter min rating before you press the start game button.  Are you on "Abort" game trip or some.

While this irritates me from time to time as well, I just figure it is their loss. I've recently given a couple 1500s a good game each so while they may be figuring you'll be easier, who knows.

Well yes.  Not really complaining on the level of crying for a game but why in the world don't they just filter minimum rating before they start the matching engine.  Again it must be for the feel of "look at my rating I'm better than you, Abort"

Really a dumb ...

Some that do it will perhaps post here defending with counter comment as if there is any logical explanation for said above... silly.

Usually when I abort a game, its not because of rating, but because I sent the seek out, opponent offered a rematch that I accepted, and then somebody accepted the seek.  The system starts both games, but the game you don't play ends up aborting... hope that explains some of the behavior.

It does... to some extend. Thank you for the kind reply Laughing

You also have to remember is that perhaps many players do play those lower than them. But when you get to them, they may have already played people 2-300 points lower than them multiple times and just want a more guaranteed well-played game.

This video depicts at least one chess.com member who does this constantly at both the beginning and end (circa 4:20) of the video:

I hate this too. If i play bullet I want action and not have to wait 10 seconds for nothing. In bullet there should be no abort button.

I have, this is why I suggested to filter rating.  IF one just finished playing lower level player, then, before searching for new game why not just filter minimum rating... that is all I'm saying.  Its there why not use it.

Yeah This makes me mad too but they will get kicked for violationg fair play policy

Avatar of lookslikeblood

^ I doubted ... but I'm not even campaigning for that really - I don't think they should get kicked out for that but its puzzling as to why they do it when there is an option to set minimum rating before hand.

jack pot, we found one lol Tongue Out

if they pause notably and then abort, could be they're reviewing your rating history if not your games history, and deciding you're a 'poor bet' (under rated)

I hate to tell you.. but people really just don't think that way.

You're possibly paranoid and delusional.  For example: when the seek is already sent, I've gotten distracted by a visitor at the door, phone call, text, email, sudden calls of nature, spilled a glass of water, etc...

It would be such a waste of time and effort to try to check somebodys history or somehow scout them before playing the first move.

I'm guessing you didn't direct that toward me (OP) but rather to the post above you?

I specifically am talking about those that abort emidietly but not so much becasue they don't want to play me [cry me a river lol] but why not just filter your matches.  Why not just set minimum raiting?  With option available there for use it only leads me to one conclusion which is they partake some form of pleasure out of it Undecided

Ya.. and I was writing when it was late.  These two things don't mix so well.
