As a diamond member, they offer me this feature in the stats section. My Live standard rating puts me at the 96.9 percentile of chess.com.
How about a Bell Curve?
And we see the average club player will be in the 97th %tile for chess.com blitz
Not quite, I don't think that the average club player has a 1900 blitz rating on chess.com?

It gives the rating range 1450-1550 as 46203 players vs the total of 1678736 players. So that's where I got 97%
But... active players would be, you know... much closer to 50,000 not 1.6 million.

Well, this way you totally ignore the rating range >1550.
97% of the 1678736 players are either below or _above_ the selected range.

Ah, yes, that is my mistake.

But that only works for online chess.
Well thanks everyone. Now I know how and where to check for my place on here. Guess I didn't really try before. I had just assumed chess.com didn't offer a bell curve. Actually chess.com isn't doing a bad job at all. So my lack of faith must a been caused by the beer.
You all enjoy now - win or lose. It's a game. I think it makes you smarter just playing it. Exercises your brain muscles.

So here I am competing with people around the world. But no matter what I score I really don't know where I place overall. I mean, a 1000 seems ok compared to the planet, but how many 1800's are out there? Am I in the top 50 or 75 percent? If chess.com offered a bell curve view of our positions it would tell us much - and be encouraging - my opinion. What do you think?
