how accurate is fritz 13 infinite analysis?

hey,

I just watched the game dubois vs Steinitz ( http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1132573 ) from Reti's book http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chesscollection?cid=1004174 and analysed it with fritz 13 - juist for fun.

The "problem" I encountered is that the moves Reti praises aren't praised by Fritz :-) and according to Fritz white stands better for the majority of the game.

My question is: who should I believe? GM Reti, or Fritz? How accurate Fritz is?

Thanks

Fritz 13, is somewhat weaker than Houdini,Stockfish,Komodo,Critter,or Rybka but still is significantly stronger than Reti. That said any chess player, human or engine makes mistakes.

I agree with Jim.

If you let Fritz analyze each position for at least a minute or two, overall I'd trust Fritz over Reti, (wow... how far we've come) although computers still don't understand some types of positions as well as the top GMs.

If you only let Fritz analyze the position for a few seconds, that might not have been enough to allow Fritz to look at it deep enough and maybe Reti's evaluation of one or more of the positions might have been more accurate than Fritz's.

I only use Frits13 for the database of my games.

I prefer you use the Houdini 1.5 or the updated version (if there is)

thanks for the tips on Houdini (http://www.chess.com/download/view/houdini15) :)

Don't trust Fritz, often, also with a strong hardware, Fritz takes more than 30 minutes, often 60, to see the correctness of a sacrifice. Engines are not really made for giving pieces away. Just buy the book the greek gift, Bxh7, sorry don't remember the author, but he is a great guy. Put some of the positions in Fritz, and you will discover how wrong Fritz is.
