How can I get better at figuring out the plan of the opponent?

I've gotten okayish at making my own plan and knowing what to do, but I rarely ever see what the other person is going to do.

How do I see this please

Look for possible checks, captures and for any forced moves that your opponent can make. They will want to attack your weak areas so identify those and then you'll have an idea of where the attack could be coming. If your opponent is defensive beware of being hit on the counter.
