How chess is completely not war according to some people

Chess is a weird game. First of all, you are fighting against 16 pieces. Second of all, “checkmate” doesn’t make sense if it’s a war and there’s no such thing as “check” or “checkmate” in war, and if there WAS, how would that work? Third of all, I’m just bewildered that the pieces can’t say “ahhhhhhh” or “ughhhhh” or shriek like a donkey. Someone help me. hElP Me.

Its a board game you can buy at a toy store.

Ahmed ben Hussan reportedly holds the record for resigning by sweeping all the pieces off the board and smashing the wooden board over his opponent's head... seven times in one tournament.

Not war, perhaps, but certainly a skirmish.

I’m good at Chess it’s just I’m trying to prove to point to some who think it’s world war III

You could give him a pep talk via a séance. Just make sure the medium practices physical distancing...

That is a strange rule: to say "check".

When I was kid, I didn't understand the rule either. In boxing, there is no warning before the KO.

I think this rule should be changed. It doesn't make sense.

Check is announced to tell the opponent he either moves his king or put a piece to obstruct the check. Chess can't be won by ILLEGAL MOVE. I don;t know if this apply in otb blitz or bullet.

There is no rule that says you have to say "check". In fact, except for beginners, almost no chess players say "check".

In Fide or National Federation otb games, what is the consequence if the player ignore the check and play another move?

I've never played under FIDE rules. Under USCF rules, there is no penalty (as long as the clock wasn't pressed), but the illegal move must be taken back and a legal move made to get out of check. The potential problem for the player making the illegal move is that the touch-move rule applies, so he might be forced to make a disastrous legal move to get out of check.

I guess now we’re all quoting each other now

Mkli1625

So, if they touch the queen, and make the illegal move, then they have to move the queen, with is gonna lose their queen. Ok, I see.

Mkli1625

Search up Ahmed Ben Hassan chess and you’ll see something very funny....

My forum post is uh, the first thing you see.....

Yeah, if they make an illegal move with the queen and don't get out of check, then they'll have to move the queen to get out of check, even if it means they lose the queen on the opponent's next move. However, often moving the touched piece won't get you out of check. In that case, you're free to make any legal move with any piece that gets you out of check.

Mkli1625

Oh. That’s sad. I wish I could say “checkmate by illegal move” in their face.
