Ukraine was part USSR before outbreak of WWII and 3rd Reich invaded Soviets. Apart of some hardware, leased and sold, there was no American presence on eastern front. Your history might need slight update. Or maybe not, since no one around you probably bothers to know that stuff anyway.

Soviets stopped Nazi offensive by winter 1941, by winter 1942 they gave Germans bloodiest battle in whole military history and undeniably won it.
USA officially was declared war (by Nazis) in December 1941, the first engagement on land was Operation Torch, November 1942, and mentioned earlier Battle of the Kasserine Pass.

It is this simple. Germany had TOTAL VICTORY on the european continent. UK was barely holding on and would have fallen without USA intervention. Without USA intervention, there effectively was NO WAR in the west. Had Germany been able to consolidate their forces and weaponry, they could have won in the east. As it stands they gave far better than they got, just ran out of men. The russians suffered far more casualties than they inflicted. So they fought much better than the soviets, and the only ones they didn't mop the floor with, of course, were the Americans, cuz our leadership was smart and made sure they and the soviets were pounding it out in the east to make it easy pickings in the west. Technically, we've never lost a war. The south vietnamese lost vietnam, we won every battle. And Iraq is a similar situation.
