I've been rated right around 1400 for about a week or so and have been constantly improving very consistently day to day. But my problem is that I'm only 1400 in rapid. Now 1400 isn't the absolute worst rating however that's not my issue. It just seems like I can win in rapid, and only rapid. I'm around 1260 in blitz and way lower at about 820 in bullet. I've played friends and other people OTB and online at ratings all the way down to 400, and up to 1600 with successful results. I simply struggle to win in shorter time controls. The obvious answer is that I have less time to think, but I'm still getting checkmated by people that are rated 600 elo below me. I have rarely had issues spotting tactics or patterns, but I just make so many blunders that I feel I should spot quicker being at a solid rating. I apologize for the lengthy read, but any advice?
Well, I looked at your most recent Blitz game, and you kept making terrible moves; you would capture one of their pieces and they would capture one of yours, but it didn’t benefit you at all. Then when you were defending pieces, you kept putting your queen in danger which then it got captured but you didn’t capture theirs in return. So stop sacrificing your major pieces unless you’re going to get the upper hand by doing so.
