To be blunt, most of the top players are cheaters. However, Chess.com's rating system does not translate at all to real over the board ratings. They aren't even similar. Apples to Oranges. That is why most players rating are significantly inflated. Probably an average of 300 points inflated.
How come some players here have ratings >2900?

In the international chess community there are two world champions. The paper world champion: Anand. And the true world champion: Tal. Since Tal passed away, Chess.com has upheld his genius by allowing all those who play chess to participate in the world championship cycle. Including, but not limited to, fish, seals, aardvarks, cups, computers, and even the lower forms of life--bubonic plague, and humans. A 2900 rating is a 2900 rating, in the all-inclusive Chess.com community.

If you have a CC rating approaching 3000 or more...then I submit that you should be in the next challenge cycle for the WCC...and get the opportunity to play Anand. At least, it would stand to reason that you should be at GM level OTB.

Speaking of apples, and oranges, I wish I could find some good ones. The ones at the store suck.
It would make sense if chess.com's rating system was just different from FIDE. It's not hard by customising the K-factors in the Elo system.

online rating is inflated compared to FIDE rating, by about 250-500 points. I have no doubt that Kasparov can reach 3000 online.
But on the other hand, chess has evolved, we have all been through the Kasparov training programs, and more and more people have learned to play like him. Similarly, the amount of pro soccer players that can play like Ronaldo will be in the hundreds in 10 years. Messi, maybe 1000 years
I checked the country top list, and saw that some of the top players had over Kasparovs peak rating, >2900. How is that possible?
Did the opponents lose their internet connection or was there any computer chess engines involved?
