25 is way better than 34, not the other way around. I may be an old man by chess.com's standards (I'm 30), but I'm not slow and senile just yet. My bests are 24 and 46.

I agree with this (apart from the idea that 30 is old - my daughter is 30). My best 5 minute score is 27 and best survival is 43. I've only had a handful of attempts at survival though.

I think survival is as much about patience as ability.

I only feel old when I come to these forums lol.

My 46 was an overnight effort. That makes it sound like I took even longer on it than I did, but meh. I started it as I was falling asleep in bed, then finished it after I woke up, but before I got up. Probably took somewhere between one and two hours? *queue up the internal screaming of the kids, at the thought of spending so long*

There's something to be said for doing lots of easy problems quickly, which is what timed puzzle rush is.

But there's also something to be said for attempting difficult problems and staring at a single position for an hour or more. I'm sure it pushes the boundaries of your ability if you do that.

Burgermaniac

that is true

I mean its always easier on survival because you have no time limit... So yeh

yeah it is definitely easier to know that you are looking for a tactic in a puzzle than in a game
