When I signed up for a competition involving schools of an area. I can't believe they accepted a beginner like me! After that,.....well, that's another story. It's the beginning of my chess story, and hopefully there will be honour, glory and stuff at the end of the long tunnel.
How did you first get involved in chess?
I first started to learn to play from my father. I have only ever played for fun, i'm far more interested now than i ever have been.
my friend told me i couldn't beat him for $20 i told him "I'll beat you so hard, generations yet unborn will cry in anguish" (of course Jk). i didn't even know how to move the pieces, so i did my research and i loved the game. ever since I've been trying to get better.
Ps im 20 bucks richer!
A friend showed me how to play as a teenager and I thought it was quite fun. I didn't play again until i was an adult, then I really caught the bug.
i started playing chess by getting a computer, a chess game was programmed into it so i decided to learn through the game.
I only got to see my father on sundays and he taught me how to play at a young age (5 or 6 maybe). He was the only person I knew who played so every so often we would play. Wish I woulda joined the chess club in middle school, who knows I coulda been a contenda! I am trying to teach my son (4) to play and every so often my uncle plays me a game here and there (prison trained he is) and I am on the losing end alot. Glad I found this site to play. Just sucks that I have a poor internet connection and can only play email chess consintantly.
