How do I get a FIDE rating?

I don’t get it. I competed in 4 FIDE rated tournaments in Feb, and I scored enough points to earn me a rating in all four.

For the first one, I scored 1.5/4 against rated players, averaged 1196, and earned a performance score of 1109.

In my second one, I played against 5 rated opponents, averaged 1181, and I scored 2.0/5, earning once again a performance score of 1109.

My third one I played 8 rated opponents averaged 1182, and got 3.5 / 8, with a performance rating of 1139.

Lastly, I played 5 rated opponents with an average of 1222, and since I got 2.5/5, my performance was 1222.

But for some reason, the March ratings are out and my profile displays that I still don’t have a rating. I don’t get why. I’ve played a lot of rated players, 22 to be exact. I also have achieved a performance rating over 1000 in all four. I just don’t get why I don’t have a rating yet, since based on my calculations, my rating should be in the 1100s. If anyone knows why, please let me know!

Thanks in advance. It would really mean a lot to me if you could let me know, because I’m really confused and also have previously told my family that I already have a rating :/.

Maybe the average of all of them wasn't good enough?

LAS_776

Actually I highly doubt so cuz it should still be in the 1100s ahhh

LAS_776

That's strange maybe it's too many tournamnets

LAS_776

Or maybe is it because your previous tournaments?

I'm sorry I know I'm not helping maybe someone who actually knows ratings will help soon.
I'm really sorry!

It's fine some of those were what I thought too but based on my calculations even for them as a whole I at least have a rating
Just depressed now cuz I think I deserve a rating and earned myself one though... sad.png

Are you sure the division you were playing in was FIDE rated?  In some tournaments, only the higher divisions like U1700 and up are FIDE rated. It appears you were playing in a lower division like U1300.

Thanks for answering, but I'm pretty sure they were all rated. I clicked into the individual calculations bit of my FIDE profile, and into the word 'available' for march ratings, and all of the games I've mentioned were there (none of the non-rated people were there, obviously). I'm really confused as to why I didn't get a rating.

If there is a tournament web site, look there to verify that your division was FIDE rated.

It could be they're just a bit slow to update and publish ratings; after all, they have to gather data from all countries around the world which have FIDE-rated tournaments, and that may include administrative procedures like checking forms and documents to ensure the arbiters and players followed FIDE protocols.  Maybe your rating will be ready and published in their next update.

Another thing to look for is whether any other unrated players in the tournaments you played in got a rating, while you still don't have one.

Well, there's a girl who played in 3 of the tournaments I played and she got a rating. However, her rating isn't right in my oppinion, since she got a performance of over 1100 for all three but ended up with a rating of only 1030 or something like that. So I can assume that rating calculations for a month where the player plays more than 1 tournament's calculations is different? I don't even know at this point.
There's also a boy who got even better than me in three of them, achieving over 1200 in all three he played but much like me, he is still unrated.
I'm confused, do I have to only play one tournament in one month to get a rating?

Chess_Player_lol

my guess is that they werent all the same time control. Fide has 3 different ratings Standard, Rapid, Blitz. my guess is that the third tournament was a rapid or blitz tourney meaning you actually have not played 20 games in the standard time control.

Are you sure your opponents had established FIDE ratings at the time you played them?

The games were rapid. All four of the competitions were rapid, and this isn't the first time I've played rapid... So yeah. I'm just confused, since I clicked into my profile under individual calculations, and into the word 'avalailable', which brought me to all my games for that month. It displayed that all my performances were well over 1000, and all of my games were actually recorded under my profile (meaning those were actually rated...)

Well, it displayed that they did had a rating in chess results, and the games I played against them were all recorded under my profile... But maybe that is the case. What is the difference? Is something that is not an established rating still display? Is it that if it isn't an established rating, then my game against them wouldn't count? I'm confused because if it wouldn't, why was it even recorded in my profile's games lol. How would I even know if their rating is established or not? Sorry I just asked a chain of questions, I'm just really confused and I really thought I was getting a FIDE rating. My performance should've earned me it. But I'm more than happy to discover why, and it can also increase my understandings for the future months!
Because ratings are now just getting more and more confusing, especially if I play more than one comp in one month. Like the case I mentioned before, the girl who ended up getting around 1030 FIDE rating points. She actually had performances of all over 1100 in the three comps...So yeah. It would really mean a lot to me if you can elaborate more on the established rating bits!

I'm no expert, but I thought I read where you have to play 24 rated games in order to get a rating.

For US Chess, you get a rating after 1 game but will be provisional until your 26th game is rated. FIDE rating is based on 5 qualifying games where a performance rating of at least 1000 was achieved.

I don't know how it would look at that site but I do know that if they do not have an established rating the games do not count. I've played in a couple of FIDE rated sections and didn't face enough players with established ratings at the time I played them, so I didn't get a rating.

You have to win like 4 games. In a category to get rating
