How do I get better at Chess

What I noticed is that knowing about openings and how to counter them does a lot of impact on the overall gameplay. But how do I remember so many openings

Its more about basic strategy to start with. Develop your pieces, control the center and castle your king.

The thing is, you don’t need to because of opening principles! Search online. They explain better than I would typing in a rush. The trick to get better at chess is not through opening, but finding out plans for yourself and all this middlegame and endgame study that you need to do to improve more. Start with stopping blunders, then trying to make a plan in the middlegame, and then endgame principles and practicing practical endgames and theoretical endgames. To figure out a plan you should look for the pieces if there are any pieces that need to be placed in a better spot or finding weaknesses to target while defending your own or maybe trying to attack or defend, or maybe a potential sacrifice to make a passed pawn, ruin pawn structure(only if the rook is trapped and no other piece pls other than the rook), open up lines, or even trade of your inactive rook for their cool looking knight on your side of the board. Now all I said here, is just 3/4s of everything about middlegame planning, because you still have rerouting and prophylactic moves which are the hardest in my opinion out of all of these that I said.

And don’t forget about your position too because you might get mated

Try not to focus too much on your attack or defense. Try to find a balance between the two

Not to be rude or anything, just fixing something that I think is wrong is wrong, it’s just that I am confused on why you say puzzles are bad because puzzles help with your pattern recognition and helps you to see tactics and I would not have seen many forks if I didn‘t do puzzles, and I prefer free stuff, so everything I said is good because it connects to YouTube sources, but you can always use #7’s way because nothing is good for all.

Dude…..you basically shut yourself off from society and spend all your free time playing games….over and over and over….maybe find a “coach” or whatever the hell ya wanna call it, someone who has spent more time alone studying chess openings and the both of ya can play chess together and study your games and variations a million ways from Sunday….and from there you’ll be good at chess and be living your best life bruh….
