Practice one opening and stick with that opening till last round of tournament ... Solve puzzles to develop Strategic endgames and win !!! gold

I prefer these games !!archivetrophies

The other thing worth doing is the chess.com lessons (click on the "Learn" tab). I go through periods of poor performance also. And when this happens, I go back to basics, like doing a few days of chess.com lessons. Try say 30mins a day for awhile. Hope this helps.

Mostly by just taking your time (don't rush your moves) and enjoy the experience. Playing in-person chess at a tournament has a completely different atmosphere to get used to and it can be nerve-wrecking for everyone the first several times!

Just try your best and recognize that everyone has a bit of a learning curve with it, but after a while, then you eventually begin to play more similarly to online ability; after all, chess is chess - online or in-person, it is the same game.

One tip of advice for beginners is to literally sit on your hands. By doing this, it will prevent you from rushing because the act of having to move your hands from under yourself will remind you to do a blunder check and to make sure you aren't overlooking something; this may help you catch several blunders before you make them.

Other than that, just have fun happy.png

Practice against difficult bots

I don't like that advice because bots play differently than humans do. It is better to practice against human opponents.

Here's my best advice: Get a good night's sleep before the tournament. Have a hearty breakfast. Keep calm before the games. Eat a good lunch. Also, walk in between rounds, and take a break.

~Good luck, you can do it!~
