It starts with listening to Black Sabbath & their song, "War Pigs". The singer sings, "...treating people like pawns in chess".
How do we come to be who we are (EXPLAIN)
By not being anything, because if we try to be something, that idea that we have of us will never be reached, since it's perfect and we'll never be good enough.
For example, we'll never pay back our debts enough to be "good," never rebel enough to be "bad" etc etc. Logically the only way to become who we are is to have no such pretensions of being anything.
Only this way leads to the good life...
You are what you are. The process of "becoming" is usually just a process of awakening to what already is.
How do we come to be who we are (in chess or else)
Well, for me, it all started way back in 1962 when my mommy and daddy looked at each other in that special way.
I went to one of their company picinics with mom and dad but came home from the picnic with just mom. The rest, as they say, is history.

I like it, Say More
I think DrSpudnik has an interesting point but will have to dismiss unless you can clarify... please!!
Truth is a long journey. What appears to be truth at one point in time, turns out to be an illusion at another time.
so what is the difference between humans and animals in your lights
Humans are animals. Our extremely high intelligence is only special to us because we're perceiving it. The universe itself does not give a thought to our species. Objectively, the most sentient beings on this planet are no more special than the species with the best sense of smell or the hardest claws.
