What kind of things should I be looking for when going over my opponent's games in preparation for a game with them?

Does anyone know how a GM might prepare for a game? What kind of things do they look for?

Just look for the critical moments, look for variations that may used if they lose in that single move. Make effort to use alternative lines if the sacrifice can be accepted or not.

I am not sure if all GM do this, but the most common preparation is in the opening, they are preparing their repertoire for Black and White. They practice endgames situations, and studying their opponent's games.
