How do you become above a 2200 in bullet

I know that bullet is not for me, but I would like a few tips on how to get to a 2200. I just feel bad that I am overrated in bullet, and many people are much better than me. If you are above 2200 give me a few tips on how to get to a 2200 or above.

I tilted in blitz when I got good at bullet. But above 2000 bullet is different than under 2000 bullet.

1) You need a good mouse, a quick trackpad, or a smooth touchscreen. Being able to play your moves as fast as you can think of them is the first requirement.

2) You need some "system" openings/defenses ... things that you can premove and play universally against different setups, to minimize the amount of thinking you'll need in the opening stage of the game.

3) Lots of premoves. You're not going to premove all the time, but you should premove whenever it's safe to do so. Premoving recaptures is an obvious step. Premoving mandatory retreats or captures is another obvious one. Premoving time scrambles, as well.

At the 2200-2300 range, players are moving an average of 2 to 3 moves per second.

4) Strive to create complications for your opponent (structural imbalances, tactical threats, pawn tension points ...), while striving to create simplifications for yourself.

5) Aim for "good" moves but don't wreck your brain over trying to find the "best" moves. This isn't classical. In bullet chess, getting flagged in a winning position is still nothing but a loss.

6) Jump on any short-term material gains that you can find. Tactics are paramount in bullet chess, and often the simplest tactics are the cleanest path to victory.

7) Practice, practice, practice.

I don't really play bullet, but I'm 2400 3/0 in blitz. Which is kind of the same thing.

I would suggest playing openings you know really well, and only making pre-moves in safe positions. Often people premove and blunder pieces. Let your opponent do the blundering/premoving.

Also, go with your gut and have good reaction time. Overthinking on a move can cost you the game.

Good tips. Very good. About the opening, I use this benchmark for my own games... if I can get to move 12-15 using 10 seconds or less then that's about average. If I can get to move 20 that's really fast. If I need 10 seconds for my first 10 moves then something probably went wrong.

Minor disagreement with 2-3 moves per second though. I think strong players of any time control try to pace themselves. 3 moves per second on average would mean you finish most games with 40 seconds or more on your clock, which isn't true, and in any case would be a waste.

Also I want to emphasize your point number 4. A lot of bullet chess IMO is trying to make the opponent uncomfortable. At lower ratings you can do this by routinely avoiding trades... and tying this advice back in with the opening point, I feel like there are two types of positions that allow a player to go really fast... the first is if you have the initiative. If you're attacking your opponent usually bleeds time. Second is sort of a turtle shell position, where you're just maneuvering around with everything defended. Your opponent is more likely to burn time trying to "find something to do." This is especially true at lower ratings.

My trash bullet skills beg to differ

Well... you have to actually play bullet. You've only played 100 games. That's only a few hours worth of games.

The way you compare everyone and everything to Magnus and Hikaru proves what a simpleton you are! The reality is, I am over 2200 (way over), so I know what it takes to get over 2200. You are not, nor have you ever been 2200. The facts speak for themself. All you can do is cry about it! My advice is worth more than anything you can even comprehend!

when did I cry though...

trackpad is the best just saying
