How Do You Earn Points? What Are Points?

I have points, but I don't know how I got them or what they mean. Can someone help me?

You get a point every time you make a comment in the forums;)

You also get points for other things, but I'm not sure what they are.

What are points? What do they mean? Are they important?

10,000 points gives you 1 year of diamond, 1000 gives you 1 month of diamond

6000 gives you 1 year of platinum, 650 gives 1 month

3000 give you 1 year of gold, 320 is one month

Is this to encourage people to be very active? 

Unfortunately, due to flagrant point-hunting on the forums, the rates have been increased. The 1 month rates have been dropped entirely, an now you can only exchange for a membership when you have enough points for a whole year. And the whole year rates have been increased. Right now 6000 points won't get you anything.

You don't get anything for points. They're joking.

Then what's the reason for points?

To show that you're an active member.

But why does that matter? What do people want them?

Kids want them, because they're kids. They don't really matter, but the lack of member points can help in determining if a sock puppet has arrived

Less points, and more profile views, the better it gets.

I think i've commented too much unnecessairly, that i should have less than half of my points, i.e, 2700.
