The Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) is your national chess organization (equivalent to USCF in the US). If you want a national over-the-board (OTB) rating, you should join them and participate in sanctioned tournaments. This might be difficult at present because of the coronavirus situation.

Yeah, the Canadian Chess Federation is just like the USCF. Similar rating system but I think there's about a hundred point difference for some reason. Playing in a real rated tournament is just like playing anywhere (could be a library, hotel, restaurant, chess club). It's always touch move, write each move down, clock, etc. Ur told who u play each round and what color. But easy to join and play.

Hi - also from Canada 🇨🇦

All you need to do is purchase a CFC membership and then just play in tournaments.
There aren’t any in-person tournaments right now, but there are online tournaments which are CFC active rated (active rating is rapid/blitz rating). Our national championship (CYCC) is also going to be held online
