How Do You Like Opponent's Ratings...

Higher? Lower?

All this mess with chess.com accidentally pairing some people way up or down, and their settings not working the way people expect / the way chess.com intended.

All this could be avoided if there were no options, and by default you only faced players +/- 150 or maybe +/- 200 points from your rating.

How would people feel about that?

In other words, do people even do crazy stuff like -50 +400 or the other way around, +50 -400 ?

2 out of 3 for a 100 point gap
3 out of 4 for a 200 point gap
9 out of 10 for a 400 point gap

I don't know, maybe lots of people do that.

Recently I was getting a lot of 1900s and even one 1600, so yesterday I tried setting it to + and - 150.

I do -400 and +∞

I thought I was being fair setting + and - the same... I do think playing higher rated players is useful (not just for instruction but also I think it's slightly better for gaining rating). Maybe I'll try different settings.

I'll probably try -50 +infinity.

I'm getting dejavu from this question and the answers. But I'm +/- infinity since I just want quick pairings and don't really care about opponent.

I don't know how accurate the references are for me, so I just allow anyone rated higher than me to challenge me.

actually I would do -25 except this small voice in my head would whisper "coward, if you can't beat lower rated players you don't deserve your rating"

so I'm basically self pressured into making my settings looser.

To be exact, I blocked him for playing, advocating, and not changing his stance on the london.

We mutual unblocked a few minutes ago.

He asked for the mutual unblock though, we were waiting to see who would ask for it first and I won lol.
