I am a depressing USCF 11 games, under 1200 rated player. I'm no master, probably never will be. But I love the game. So I will play until I die.
When I am paired against a kid in a tournament, I freak out mentally. I am a single father of FIVE kids (7-14). So, cute and adorable, they are little devil's in tournaments. They play creatively. They get up and walk off, burning their clock time up to throw you off. And they are humble when they destroy you.
In my last tournament I saw an 8 year old beat 3 and tie one to come in 2nd. His 12 year old brother came in first. This old 1700 player grinned as he resigned to the 8 year old.
