Pretty boring, agreed. But if you know some sidelines they can make the opening exciting.

The two knights instead of the guccio may avoid this though.
Im fine with fried livered but they just play nc3
Umm... stop playing the Italian.
I hope that helps, good luck.
I'm not white, they are
When I'm white I usually play the scotch

Nice. I'll probably learn both for white eventually.
Yeah, that is what I play, but people my level play strange moves like this
It is theoretical though, but if white knows what to do and if black doesn't, the traps work like magic. And most of the time, even at my level, black doesn't.
Wait so people your level still fall for this

That's one trap in the scotch gambit, but it is easy to fall for this if you don't know the theory. I haven't played it yet, but another 2000 rapid player and 2300-2400 player told me that they do fall for the traps at his level.
I once beat an 1800 with this lol
thats funny
Don't play or oblige 1e4. Tedium or a bazillion memorised traps. Turned me off chess completely, for years.
That's literally what I did in response to 1e4 for about a year, before a decade or so of hiatus.
Stop playing 1...e5
At least 4 common options against 1.e4
1...c5 Sicilian
1...e5 French
1...c6 Caro-Kann
1...d6 Pirc
Just a start
In #1 4.Nc3 takes a lot of the fun out of the game! White's strategy in the Italian is based around playing c3 and d4. After 4,Nc3, White has no dynamic pawn breaks
Guys read
I said whenever I play e5 I run into the italian game, not when I play e4
Meaning I'm black, not white

idk the position doesn't look that bad for black after the Qxc5
I play Nf6 after that so idk
i almost quit playing chess after too many italian games. i was told i should continue playing it because it was sound and could be played at any level so by the time i became a strong player i would know if extremely well. you tell me what is better, becoming an expert at a game you have come to hate or playing something completely different?
Evans's gambit and center attack are fine to me, but whenever I play e5 I basically have to get into this position
I am playing as black, not white
If I was white I could easily just play something else
