How does it TASTE? (My commentary)

Cheating is a dish best served COLD. Fellow chess enthusiasts, fellow cheaters, how does MY world taste? I'm sure a vast MAJORITY of the 456 current vote players are using a program for analysis. I'm sure many of those have rarely used one before, and are now INPUTTING the moves into our little vote chess game. I GOTCHA!

Even though the game is, for all intents and purposes, even (black up .41), I'm impressed with the combined STRENGTH of team chess.com. I'm usually down two pawns by move 10. I will use this thread to give a running commentary of the game as I SEE IT.

You all may have noticed that most of my moves are made rather quickly. Here's why: I have yet to fire up any of my 3 programs. I have MASSIVE databases of chess games (well into the MILLIONS) I have restricted the games to GM players playing black. I have just inputted your move and followed the branching moves. The INDIAN defense has so many variations played by so many GMs over the years, that I may not have to fire up my progs for another 7 moves or so.

Team chess.com's moves are usually the first or second choice on the tree, so I applaud you all. But I have not yet begun to FIGHT! I am the slumbering dragon. I am still dreaming of eating sheep and townspeople. In a few day I will be awake. I will show no mercy, you little peons. I'm not going to toy with you all as a cat toys with a mouse. It will be swift.

It's not even worth it to mock you anymore dude. It's like beating up children - what's the point?

Yo cheat, Im glad to hear your almost done with your nap.  You say it will be swift, I look forward to seeing if you can back up the talk with a walk.  I wonder if you have given consideration to what happens next after this game...Will there be a rematch?  Any way why dont you get up, take a shower, fire up those engines, pour some coffee, crack open a Killians, and show us all what you can do.  I look forward to it.  See you on the Battlefield!

Hey jlaix, it may not be worth it to mock me anymore (when did you start), but evidently it's STILL worth your precious time to type me a message to tell me that it's not worth your precious time to mock me anymore. TOUCHE. HA

lol is an understatement. I see you are Cheating your way through the fast life. It is a lonely job, but somebody's gotta do it.

In your defense, the cheater never tastes his own pie, it is the cheated who squints and gags at the salty/spicy/fruity surprise. The cheater's life is sweet. Although, I rather play the computer. She is a kinder a far more talented cheater.

My book pretty much ran out after 3. g3, but I feel confident that chess.com is going to play well against you.  Who knows, maybe you are the best.  Maybe you will get destroyed by amateurs.  Let's find out.  I am very interested in what happens.

This guy IS good.  He figured out Black was up 0.41 points without using an engine.

I just looked at the game. Black is a pawn up on move 7.  White looks much, much better. Somebody better get their fan fixed.
cheater_1
CLARIFICATIONS: 1) I keep my computer room at a constant 59 degrees F due to my comp having no fan. 2) Although I HAVE NOT consulted a computer program  for ANY of the moves so far, I have used it for analyzations. 3) Just because I have one of white's pawns DOES NOT mean that I am +1. DUH. Basic chess 101 here. Position comes into play. 4) If ANYONE can look at the board and say that white's position is superior to black's, they I suggest taking up checkers, because, once again, this is basic chess 101. Black is CONTROLLING more squares and ATTACKING more squares than white, PLUS it is MY turn to move. Come on, people, think BEFORE you type.

Computer 101:  Cooling fans cost almost nothing.

Reading 101:  "a pawn up"  means a pawn up, not some  +1  reference.

Chess 101:  Black is underdeveloped and uncastled with one central pawn vs white's two and far less mobility; the one pawn compensation for this positional mess is a pathetic, weak doubled pawn.

"I HAVE NOT consulted a computer program  for ANY of the moves so far"

Bad idea.

"PLUS it is MY turn to move."

When you are left with only one rational, indicative move in a non-forcing situation, that's not always an advantange and can become symptomatic.

I'm awake now. Time for my daily UPDATE. I have made my 8th move now...still using my databases to guide me. I fear though, depending on team chess.com's next move, I may have to start up my "Council of Three" within a move or two. I am of course refering to Sir Chessmaster, Mr. Fritz, and Dr. Rebel. This UNHOLY trio will be my CHAMPION, each voting on the best move for team cheater_1 to make--majority wins.

Here's a fun fact. I have our current game's position plugged into each program and I let them play it out with 10 seconds per move. Team cheater_1 won 2 of the 3 and lost the other. VERY early to tell, but I'm satisfied with the results.

I HATE reading MY posts that have been lying dormant for such a long time--it's kinda like looking at a picture of yourself from 5 years ago.

As I said before, There isnt even a .0000001 elo point difference from Fritz 9 and Fritz 11 or CM7 and CM9000. The FACT that processor speed has TRIPLED and RAM has TRIPLED accounts for the prog being "stronger". That's why Ubisoft continues to make MILLIONS. It is all the SHEEP who are led to believe that they uncovered some MYSTERIOUS new variation to the kings indian defense, or they invented some revolutionary tech that makes the moves "better" and thus the prog is stronger. HA!...new graphics and new features and a new shiny package accounts for THE ONLY things that have improved in such a short period of time.

My COUNCIL OF THREE is now hard at work determining my 17th move. There has ALWAYS been at least 2 moves in agreeance--never do I get 3 different suggestions. That is how I determine which move to make. So far, I have NEVER let my programs think longer than 10 minutes per move.

PROGRAM LESSON: (very deep reading ahead): Early in a game, it does NO good to let your program run for 8 or 30 or 4545467 hours. Just as the opening moves are CHISELED in stone, so are the LIMITED potential of moves in the early game. THAT IS WHY there are ENTIRE CDs devoted to the endgame because the variations are in the ZILLIONS!!

Hash tables (basically a database of stored moves and variations) fill up VERY quickly if you let your prog think for hours upon hours. Once they are filled, they become COUNTERPRODUCTIVE if a human should make a move that "does not compute". That's how Kasparov can outhink a program and beat at its own game.

Once you turn your comp off, kiss the hash table bye bye that you built up for 8 hours --it's similar of RAM. Don't let anyone tell you that it stays with you, cause they are lying.

If you let your prog think for 5 hours on move 20 and it finds a BRILLIANT move at the 4 hour and 55 minute mark, you DANG well better let your prog think for AT LEAST 5 hours for EVERY SINGLE MOVE AFTER THAT. Here's why, if it finds a winning line like: A B C D E F G after 3 hours and 55 minutes and then you turn off your comp--when you start it up the next day, it will think the line A F D E B C is the best line UNTIL it hits the 3 hour and 55 minute mark. Should you make ANY move before the 3 h 55 m mark, you are DOOMED.

Team chess.com, I'm letting you know a little understood part of chess programs....it has nothing to do with cheating, I am just making available info that can be helpful to anyone who wants to understand how progs work and think. You may think I am actually helping you to beat me.....let's just say I'm giving myself an EXCUSE if I lose, while edumacating the kids here.

I'm starting out slow. I can afford to, seeing that my 3 program AVERAGE score is +.25. Whoop-de-do you might say...a 1/4 pawn advantage. Can anyone here say PASSED PAWN? Can anyone here say MORE MATERIAL? I am on the defensive without a doubt, but we are confident. I let all three progs play out the game to the end and I drew 2 and won 1. Yes...we are confident.
