How good is Hikaru?

$2,000,000 is the total prize fund, including prizes for first, second, third, etc. so it is impossible for one person to win the entire prize pool.
To quote hikaru "I am a streamer first" never really a contender for anything other than a good American chess player.

This "I'm just a streamer" is a meme. Hikaru was for a long time, and is again, the top US player, even with strong players like Levon Aronian and Wesley So joining the ranks. He is one of the few players to have passed 2800 and was at some point number 2 in the world. He is one of the best two speed chess players in the world, next to Carlsen.
Streaming provided him with a secure income so that he does not depend on tournament successes anymore, which took away a lot of the stress that top players face and lead to a more relaxed attitude to competitive chess.

I think Magnus won 30,000 while Hikaru 20,000, or that's what I heard. Not a huge deal compared to their other income.
Meme? No actually a quote by him. Realistically though he's never really been a contender. Everyone knows blitz is the putt putt of chess. Show me where he was actually a contender for real chess. The World championship.

He said himself that this is a meme. He narrowly missed out on one of the top two spots in the last candidate's tournament. There are only very few players who took part in actual world championship matches and he has been as close to that as it gets. He is currently number 6 in the world, and got to number 5 quickly after a long hiatus last year. He's beaten both the current world championship candidates. What more do you expect... he's as good as it gets if you're not called Magnus Carlsen.
