How I Make my Blog Thumbnails

People often ask me how I create my blog thumbnails so I'll give a step by step tutorial on how to make thumbnails like me! Also please follow my blog:

Step 1: Open Up Google Drawings!

I use google drawings to create my thumbnails. Some people like to use photoshop but Google Drawings works fine for me! To create a google drawing, you need a google drive account. Then go to "New +" and click "Create Drawing"

  Or you can click: https://docs.google.com/drawings/create?usp=direct_url

After this step you should have a screen looking like this:

Step 2: Choose a background!

Try searching up "geometric backgrounds," you'll get some pretty nice backgrounds that will catch your attention. Choose one of them, you should have a nice selection like this:

Go ahead and choose a background and slap it on your blank drawing, if you don't know how to do that search up "how to insert images on google drawings."

Now We're Getting Somewhere:

Step 3: Create a position!

Create an analysis board and on the position you can draw a bunch of arrows like so:

Next, we can take a screenshot or snip this out of the the analysis, we should have a clean board shown above. Go ahead and do the same thing you did with the background and slap it on the drawing!

Now we're making progress! It's starting too look like a thumbnail.

Step 4: Create a Reaction with Text!

You can choose a image of humor such as Peppa Pig (which is something I chose), you can also choose some funny memes like a guy saying "Wow!" or "Mind Blown!" You can also choose some images of ChessKid pieces here: https://www.google.com/search?q=chess+kid+king+transparent+background&safe=strict&tbm=isch&sxsrf=ALeKk01toQfcncvNBfKSa5517L3c1VidoQ:1601494337252&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj7ndOoz5HsAhXKIDQIHRT9CgsQ_AUInAQoAQ&biw=1527&bih=825

Take that image and SLAP it on your google drawing. You can add some text and boom! Your thumbnail is complete!

You can save this thumbnail and transfer it from Google Drawings to Chess.com by downloading it or taking a snip of it and then inserting it. Post your blog and then the views will start clicking in.

Tips:

1. For a reaction, choose an image with a transparent background.
2. If the background doesn't size correctly, you can crop the background so it fits.
3. Make sure you choose a good background that doesn't blend in. The peppa pig on my drawing is bring pink, but the background is dark which makes it stick out.

That's a lot of arrows the reader can't comprehend and the reader will be confused and then they will want to click grin.png

I will give you some experience myself.

1. Make sure that the background you use doesn't have a watermark. That is, something that your viewers can see, like the shutterstock logo on the bottom right on most stock photo.

2. You should make sure that your Google Drawings pixels are big enough. Otherwise the thumbnail may look blurry. For example, your thumbnail board looks blurry on my computer

Yes that is good. But how come the thumbnail is fine on my end but blurry on yours.

1. How many pixels is your Google Drawing? Google Drawings usually have poor resolution.

2. Is my thumbnail blurry on your end? (See my blogs)

Rodgy

Yes your thumbnails are a little blurry

Ok. Then your thumbnails are good!

Lol Yey!

One final thing. You take your images off the web. When you become a big blogger (such as me) almost all your blog thumbnails should be original because that is what attracts the most attention!

Oof no more peppa pig
