How long does trappy chess work?

I feel like I'm starting to get better at defending against the tricky trappy stuff (though still occasionally take the bait).  At least I'm getting a better spidey sense when someone's setting something up and start looking for ways to shore up defenses and look for the tricks and traps.  And when I see obvious moves towards tricky stuff like wayward queen, englund gambit, I'm ready for it now.  I feel like I saw a lot of it when I was in 600 - 800s and less against 900s.

Is this a style that just drops off as you get better?

Smurfing is your answer.

Kings Gambit and Englunds Gambit got me to 1300; fair enough.

Chess it not about traps, it is about logic.

Traps won’t get you passed about 2500, unless you are clever about it
