how many basic members are there in chess.com?

About 85%
How did you arrive at this number?
Incidentally, this would mean that 15% of the 690,000 players, or approxamately 103,500 have at least a silver membership. Assuming (conservatively) that they've all opted for annual silver memberships at $2.49/month that means that chess.com is pulling in a minimum of $250,000 per month.
Although I'd be happy to hear for Erik's sake that this was the case, somehow I think it's a far higher percentage than 85%.

To be fair it seems like a very high percentage of forum posters have some form of premium membership; he is probably estimating based on that.
Most players don't post on the forums, and I'd go so far to say that a good chunk of those 600,000 players don't actually play here anymore.
Maybe 1-3% are premium members.
