How much do you hate losing?

I got so mad I wanted to crash my smartphone. Luckily, I grabbed an apple instead and threw It and watch it got smashed all over the floor while yelling and cursing like tennis players John Mcenroe or Goran Ivanisevic used to.

What happened was I lost several blitz games in a row after making stupid blunders like dropping pieces as it was blunder festival contest or failing to see I can get mated in 1 or 2 all the freaking time.  All this happened while night before I really played good and enjoyed the level of play I offered.

What happened over one night? Did I just wake up in the morning more stupid than I was the day before or what? This happens all the time, at times I play great, and at other times I play horrible.

There is no problem if I get outplayed by opponent while I feel I played a good game, but when I start playing like retard it really gets me furious. What also bothers me is that I can’t predict how good a blitz session is going to be. Why can’t it be in chess like it is in some physical sport like basketball where you can tell in advance how good you will play by  how fresh and physically good you feel prior to playing a game?

What do I need, some ritual or lucky rabbit foot or what to keep my game straight??

In other to keep down from frustrations and loosing streaks I try to apply some rules on myself but emphasize is on the word try of course. I don’t have much discipline obviously J

CroIggy – please, please, pleeeeasssseee DO NOT play chess in following cases:

·         after or during an argument with a spouse.

·         when you are sleepy

·         when you are thinking about some problem from work

·         when you have to go to bathroom

·         when you constantly get interrupted by someone

·         when you feel depressed or sad

·         when you are in too cold or in too hot place

·         when something else distracts you like weird smell or something

·         when you have tight schedule and are in a hurry for some reason or you are expecting someone

·         when for whatever reason you are not in complete calm or zen like state

·         when you don’t complete pre session voodoo ritual that will make evil spirits of bad chess playing away J

That is the only one of your list which definitely results in blunderfull blitz/bullet for me. As soon as someone asks me something during a bullet or blitz game I will blunder a queen, or overlook mate in one, at the first opportunity.

The others I am not sure about, having to pee actually seems to make me a bit sharper than I am on average.

Actually losing is a good thing.  It teaches you to appreciate winning.

I feel uneasy at losing only when my opponent swtiches on to engine/when

i am in a disadvantageous position or a piece down/further no hope but we

can't runaway and have to complete the game..thought only players below

my rating used engines against me..recently played against a 2270 player

at his request..3 games..lost all 3..had a chance in 2 nd game but his

play was superior.now when his a/c closed for cheating and his

last rating is 1473..I don't know even what to think..about players

motivation for cheating and assessing their level of cheating with engines.

One thing we all do not like to admit about losing is that the other guy jut played better, maven if we did our best. They beat us, hands down, fair and square.

Strange, you compare it to basketball, but i can say for myself, when i play basketball or volleyball i can never say for sure i can push foward outmaneuver opponent and score or in volleyball that when i jump and hit the ball i can't say where it will go exacly lol. Like in every sport you have to be in good shape to play and win sometimes we get lucky even in chess.

When you feel you are in bad streak continue to play but make it unrated.

Admit to being beaten fair and square?! Nooooooo, the day I cannot find an excuse for losing is the day that I will quit the game Cool

I think you need to read and discuss this.

Be careful with chess.
