.. Also, if you are doubtful as to whether or not I actually have that strength, chess.com has also rated me around that level as shown here: Notice how it says "White Dabdabdippybond 788" and then says "Whites rating is 2150" ... ... ... 🤨

The report card feature should be taken with a very large grain of salt. I had one of my games where it gave me a 2450 rating, and that's not even close.

What can be charged for a lesson will depend on a number of factors but an 850 online rated player isn't going to be able to get much. Maybe a little to teach the rules to a brand new player, but that's about it.

When I was last looking at getting lessons, I was aiming towards $20-25 an hour for an FM. Maybe a bit higher depending on how the coach worked and presented themselves. I wouldn't pay anything for anyone sub-2000.

You may not think I'm that good, however FIDE, has given me this ratings too. FIDE has rated me 2200. And I wouldn't recommend arguing about ratings with them. Even if you don't think I'm that good, all I wanted to know was how much I should charge for beginner/intermediate lessons.

If you had a 2200 OTB FIDE rating, you wouldn't have an 850 rating here. Even if that was a FIDE Arena rating, it would be much higher here.

I also wouldn't pay for a coach unless I could verify their strength in a very objective way, such as having their OTB titles recognized here, or meeting them in person at an event or something.

Ok ok, you win. My rating is 800 and I'm a sucky chess player. My grandfather is a GM and he wanted me to ask some Chess.com people how much chess lessons are for beginner/intermediate. He asked me to check because he lives in a remote part of Canada called Nunavut and because of where he is there he has no internet. He paddled a canoe 1281 Km. through wilderness in the middle of the ice break up for an unexpected longing to see me even though he doesn't know where I live. While he was here he saw me playing chess on Chess.com and asked me to ask how much lessons cost for beginner/intermediate people because he really wants to teach some grizzly bears how to play chess. Now that you know the truth can you please just tell me how much it should cost?

bro went on the whole odyssey to ask you how much chess lessons cost

Jenium

Did he also ask you to write this hilarious blog article why your "real" rating isn't 800 but 2100? happy

lfPatriotGames

I was going to say zero. But in some cases the person giving the lesson should be paying the student.

Jenium

On a serious note, you could study chess for another year, bring your rating up to 1500 or so, and teach a group of school kids the rules and basic strategy if there is demand.

Knowledge should be free and readily available to all.

MasterMatthew52

I think there's an abundance of free (or cheaper) resources you can utilize over paying $25/hour for lessons.

pleewo

I would like a lesson please!

pleewo

Are you actually a CM? Suspect 🤔

pleewo

What?

pleewo

But your rating isn’t 2200

MarioParty4

A good price is not one that is too expensive.

pleewo

That’s what I mean, your OTB rating isn’t 2200

pleewo

According to you, you don’t have a fide rating!

Bro, I already said "my standard OTB rating is 2200" THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OTB STANDARD AND ONLINE RAPID!!!

your evidence for being 2200 otb is a chess.com performance rating (very inaccurate)

performance rating means you played like the rating you performed at in that one game, meaning you played like a 2150, one time, assuming that its even accurate

pleewo

If you don’t have a fide account, you don’t have a fide rating!
