How much should I charge for my coaching services?

As a fairly strong player (don't look at my chess.com rating, engine users make it meaningless. I actually estimate my strength to be about 2300 FIDE atm...), I have decided to try and make some money on the side by coaching. How much do you think I, as a 2000+ player, albeit untitled, should charge for my services? Is it even legal for me, a 16 year old white male, to coach anyone? Thanks in advance!

Coaching is to be done by players with actual ratings and titles.

I like the "white male" part.

Yeah I think at least 100 dollars an hour. You underestimate yourself! Your at LEAST 2450.

Your coach fares should be around 1/4 of your aeroplane flight fares wink.png

No it is not legal, if you were black thoughyou could have started with $1000000 million per second.

In all honesty beep beep, I remember a game in which you beat me in two moves. As I am rated 27000 myself you must be a God of chess to be soo amazing.

MAKE THAT $100

EVERY FIFTEEN MIUNUITES...

WHEN YOU TEACH A GRANDMASTER.

If your not tutoring Carlsen or a GM, then up the price to maybe $150 every 15 mins, as GMs have slightly less to learn from you, as they know the very very basics of chess. (But no more)

Funny enough I saw a posting on craigslist NYC saying basically the same. $50 per hour and listed himself as +2000 rating in popular online app.

Yesterday I saw a post by you where you didn't even know why your opponent resigned, and how this. This is why strong players generally don't post in forums. Thankfully we have people like pfren and poucin that still do, regardless of the stupidity of some posts.

Charge nothing for the first few lessons to try to build your business and clientele. If your coaching is as good as your alleged rating, then you can start charging.

150 bucks an hour if you must talk.

Don't listen to this guy, OP. Bill Belichick makes 7.5 million a year for his coaching services, and this guy is talking about $150 an hour... for what, let's say 40 hours a week? If you work 50 weeks a year, then that's still just 300k, which is what Belichick makes in less than 2 weeks. So don't listen to this guy. He's probably just trying to get a cheap deal for himself, and cheat you out of a lot of money.

You should always offer your coaching services by bargaining. Start high and work down until an agreement is made. For example, as an untitled yet clearly good with numerous online references, you'd want to charge at least $50/hr. If your prospected client declines, then knock it down 10% until an agreement is made. I've no doubt you'll be successful Troll coach, I've seen the quality and I've no doubt you'll be able to convey that skill to others. Good luck!
