Basically mastering strategical play. It’s not like I’m missing a lot of tactics or anything, either. I can do puzzles on chess.com up to 2700 rated in under 15 seconds
As a beginner with not a ton of time I try and do the Daily puzzle every day and then maybe spend 10 minutes doing the puzzles.
I would often take up to 15mins a puzzle - sometimes more. Average probably about 5 mins per puzzle - doing 25/day most days for a year and a half 200hrs total- got up over 2600 puzzle rating. Recently I'm fed up with puzzles so stopped doing them. Hasn't helped my chess rating one bit to be honest
I try and give puzzles about 45-50 seconds before I think I can solve it. Not always the best idea but once you start recognizing patterns it becomes easier.
I'm a beginner and am planning to spend 30-45mins on puzzles each day, focusing on the puzzles rated 800-900. So far, it takes me at least 30secs per puzzle. I want to develop good habits and read the board properly before I decide on my moves. I hope this is the right way to get better at puzzles and chess.
