How old were you when you first started learning how to play chess? Do you remember who first taught you?

This summarizes some of the key points of my chess journey: https://youtu.be/bnMwhG57JXk?si=HPhloVk0eW0x4IvD

My dad taught me the rules of chess and “how to play” but he wasn’t really that much of a chess player himself. Then I had some classmates in elementary school teach me the rest and I played a few games with them (age 7-ish?). Then I literally didn’t play chess like at all until after high school other than very rare occasions where I might play one game or something.

It was only around the time I was starting college that I decided to give chess a try and that was the day I created my chess.com account.

I was 6 when I learnt the rules but I had to take a looooooong break when my siblings were born cos there was nobody to play with me anymore. It was worth it though because now they are older we can play chess together!
