How strong is 1800?

I am happy to play on a tournament with the lowest rating. My opponents are all above 1800. Me is around 1750. The tournament is meant for 1600-1800. But on round 3, the players are all above 1800, but me.

So how strong are these players. I think they are mostly strong club players. They don't make mistake even the smallest one. They know how to play opening, middle game and end game. They can play positional and tactical. They know what to do even with smallest mistakes. So they are really strong.

Lol?

It's a nice and decent rating. Like you say, they are good club players imo.

Nothing really spectacular though, I don't agree with your second part. Sure they make mistakes, huge blunders as well, everyone does (even Kasparov missed a mate in one against deep blue). They usually have a basic all-round understanding of the entire game, but I'm pretty sure you can get to 1800 by just studying tactics (if you have the talent ofc)

Umm, strong enough to beat most people blindfolded?

Thanks all for your supports and comments.

Yeah, I need to try standard chess, and see how it goes. But I have a problem that something usually comes up in the hour.

Yeah, I can draw and win sometimes. But in the middle game around moves 18-20, I know I have to make the right moves for not losing the game.

Out of 10 games maybe I can win a couple and draw a couple, that makes up only 3 points out of 10 points. So I keep my rating. I need to get 6 points, that I think is hard. I need to up my playing level a notch higher. I will let you guys know how I fare in the tournament.

We absolutely stink.  Every real chess player can kick our butts while hardly thinking about it.

Even fake masters can beat us, no

Can you elaborate on that?

Check out my only forum thread I made.. There's me a 1880 beating a 2000.. He gave me a free queen... 1800+ blunder as well

I am rated 1833 ELO. In my recent otb tournament I lost to a mate in 1 against someone rated 2046 (I was even up a piece, so he blundered earlier). The next round I won against someone rated 2102. Inconsistent is my middle name Laughing

My recent game:

I have not seen it till the very end. My personal blind spot is found :)

Kahzeemin, oops, you missed that. We make this kind of mistake sometime.

1800 means nothing now chess.com have stupidly allowed new players to start their ratings at 1800.

why does this matter? they will still lose ratings and if they are strong maintain it

1800’s are pretty weak players

1800s are half decent players. They are good at tactics, have a basic sense of strategy, know a little opening theory, and have decent endgame knowledge.

They still hang pieces occasionally. Not amazing players, but not bad either.

The saddest part is that he never told us how the tournament went.
