Is he IM level? Is he just an average club guy?

I've always been curious.

Nigel Short's dad plays in a Midlands league. He is in the lower strata of club chess.

Father played a very important role for him. Henrik was always there to provide the best for magnus, nurturing the young talent.

His dad peaked at 2095. It looks like he hasn't played in about 4 years. His 2 sisters peaks were 1947 & 1602. It looks like they stopped playing about 9 - 10 years ago.

I always slightly regretted never playing Short. Several members of our club had played him a few times. I only took chess up in 87. I had loads of games with Stewart Haslinger and won most of them before his grade went meteoric. He became a GM and gave up chess to get a maths PhD so he isn't famous. Hardly known in fact.
