I agree with Yadeehoo - there ought to be a way to block players from being able to play you - as is the case on some other web sites with the "censor" command. Obviously you're not going to challenge someone you don't want to play, but if you post a match request there currently is nothing to keep a "blocked" player from accepting (and then you need to use "abort" which apparently is frowned upon by the policy makers). That IMHO is very poorly thought out - there were valuable lessons learned in the evolution of those other sites. Why not use their good concepts, like "censor"? There are numerous other aspects of this new interface that rankle me, but that's off topic so I'll save that for another discussion.

A bit more research has revealed that "block" is indeed like "censor" according to this:

https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/articles/1444796

I quote from this article:

Once blocked, a member cannot do any of the following:

  • post notes to your account
  • send you messages
  • accept your game seeks
  • be auto-matched with you in open seeks
  • join tournaments that you are running
  • post in content that you created

So it seems "block" is buggy.

Are you saying someone you blocked accepted one of your seeks?

Been a long time since I've seen the Dr Who, btw they didn't have subtitles back in those days. but thanks for the info.

You haven't seen the new Dr. Who series that began in 2005? The Doctor's assistants (usually appearing for a year or so then moving to the next just like the face of the Doctor) are hot and well-developed characters you root for as much as Doctor!  My favorites are Rose Tyler and Amy Pond,

Is there a way to block members from showing on forums, so I don't get to see them pictures, or read what they have to say, make it a bit more "family friendly"?

Yeah, it's called pouring bleach in one's eyes. Then you never have to see anything that might offend you.

you confusing offended with grossed out

Funny enough, there's actually some apps/plugins that can block out profile pictures etc. if you specify them.

I'm not a great fan of edgy material.

my motto is that if you worry what your mother/wife/boss would say- its not family friendly and probably shouldn't be posted.

BUT.

what IS and isn't here will always subject to what the mods think is reasonable.  and one can only 'report' so much.

You will still see their content and vice-versa in 3rd party forum posts. However, once blocked a member cannot do any of the following:

  • post notes to your account
  • send you messages
  • accept your game seeks
  • be auto-matched with you in open seeks
  • join tournaments that you are running
  • post in content that you created

I hope this helps.
