is there a way for me to set up an online live game with my 8 yo grandson? I am a diamond member chess.com. He is currently using the free Kidschess.com. We are presently unable to be together because of the covid-19 social spacing requirements. I'd be happy to upgrade his kidschess.com membership or support a chess.com membership (but I think this latter is not allowed?)

Under 13 can play here with parental permission. There is no link between this site and the kid site.

so, do I register him as a separate member account?

He would need his own account, yes if he wanted to play with you here.

I'm not super familiar with the Kids site; I know it is pretty locked down on how things are done, so I don't know if that would be an option or not.

You can make him a chess.com account and then just send his chess.com account a challenge.
