Hi guys,

I have lots my games saved in PGN format and I want to make a database from them in my Fritz 13...

Do I ave to save all my 64 games one by one or is there any way I can submerge all my games in one PGN and save them in Fritz?

You can merge all the pgn files into one by cutting and pasting with a text editor, or use this program:

"TXTcollector - Free Text File Merging Tool"

http://bluefive.pair.com/txtcollector.htm

Just check the boxes for "No Separator" and "No Filename". I don't know how many files it can join before it chokes; You'll have to experiment.

Then just import the pgn file into Fritz.

Do you know DOS?

"copy *.pgn all.txt" does the job.

Then rename the txt-file to pgn.

Yeah, except it doesn't put a line space between the pgns. Is there a way to do that with DOS commands/batch files?

JamesColeman

1.Open Fritz 13

2. Press F12 to activate database window

3.Go to "file" select "new"

4.Name your database. Hit save

5.Click Activate Game window

6. Enter brilliant masterpiece/useless piece of garbage Smile

7. When done and in the game window, click file, save, and hit "save" once more. Enter details as appropriate, and it will be in your newly named database.

8. Repeat as needed.

I tried TXTcollector and it worked fine. :)

Sorry, no idea. You could convert it to cbh and then again to pgn. At least the simplest way :-)

Anyone know how to rename a database in Fritz16? It should be simple, but i have tried many different things, including going into the filename within Windows Explorer, which somehow makes the database unusable after it it renamed.

There may be a simpler way, but I would create a new database with the required name and copy/paste all the games from the original one.
