How to deal with insults.

I especially like the ones who post childish complaints on my notes page, but have blocked their own notes page to others - a clear sign that they are the type of low-life that gets a lot of responses to their nonsense that they can't take!

You do realize you said in your original post that "chess.com should ban such words", which I'm pretty sure those words would be included.  If they start saying such things during a game, ignore them.  If they're a sore loser, they're a sore loser.   Besides, it's much more preferable dealing with it on a computer than having to put up with them in real life during/after a game, because you can practically ignore them if you want to.

It's true but it wasn't personal. I don't mind such words unless they have been said specially to insult me and i suppose it's the same for everyone.

Filter is great but it must have vast abusive vocabulary. Words like moron should be there.

"Moron" is a perfectly legitimate word and is certainly not swearing or foul language. You cannot filter it out, although I do agree that it is frequently used as an intended insult. If you look in a dictionary, you will not find it categorised as slang or swearing.

Besides, it's possible to insult without using foul language.

"Elephant jockey"?!!!!

Incidently, it also means "carrot" in Welsh.

As for "Elephant jockey", I hate to think...

Yes Connor maybe so. But the question is, who's the BIGGEST loser?

Here i shall unfold my wisdom, please children remember this.

Insults are more a reflection of the person that issues them than the target they seek to vilify!

Its all a room full of mirrors! Please remember this wisdom and it will keep you free from all kinds of issues.

This reminds me of a Zen story, The Gift of Insults, which I once read on John Suler's Zen Stories page:

http://truecenterpublishing.com/zenstory/zenstory.html

There once lived a great warrior. Though quite old, he still was able to defeat any challenger. His reputation extended far and wide throughout the land and many students gathered to study under him.

One day an infamous young warrior arrived at the village. He was determined to be the first man to defeat the great master. Along with his strength, he had an uncanny ability to spot and exploit any weakness in an opponent. He would wait for his opponent to make the first move, thus revealing a weakness, and then would strike with merciless force and lightning speed. No one had ever lasted with him in a match beyond the first move.

Much against the advice of his concerned students, the old master gladly accepted the young warrior's challenge. As the two squared off for battle, the young warrior began to hurl insults at the old master. He threw dirt and spit in his face. For hours he verbally assaulted him with every curse and insult known to mankind. But the old warrior merely stood there motionless and calm. Finally, the young warrior exhausted himself. Knowing he was defeated, he left feeling shamed.

Somewhat disappointed that he did not fight the insolent youth, the students gathered around the old master and questioned him. "How could you endure such an indignity? How did you drive him away?"

"If someone comes to give you a gift and you do not receive it," the master replied, "to whom does the gift belong?"
